What I notice the most is your belief in your family, and thier belief in you. There must have been a string of energy, beaming, straight to each other. And you survived on that hope.
Yet also, I also think it takes a completely dedicated survival instinct...skill...whatever...
This and a strong sense of love from some place in your heart.
You are truly an inspiration, kiddo.

I'm from MO and was watching tv back in 2007 when Shawn was found after all those years, what an amazing day that was. I have thought about Shawn and his family from time to time hoping they are doing well. Tonight I saw a documentary on Shawn that was filmed recently. What an intelligent, articulate, brave, and handsome young man he has become. What a true testimate to a loving family who never gave up hope and continue to provide love, support and care. Every time I see Shawn and his family in an interview, it makes me sad to think of what that child went through but SO hopeful for the children who will come home and for the amazing life Shawn has ahead of him. I wish Shawn and his family the BEST life has to offer and keep up the great work helping other children. God Bless.

I Just saw your story on Dateline, And i must say...you give hope to people that have missing family members...your story is truly a miracle, God was truly with you and your family...You are the proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel, That no matter how dark the moment is there is hope and love and no one should ever give up, You and your family are amazing and God bless all of you!

Shawn, I just watched your story on 48hours on ID. You are an AMAZING person. I cried thinking of what you must of endured. I wish you more happiness and joy for the rest of your life than you can possibly stand. You deserve all that and more. My love goes out to you and your family, Hugs, Rhonda
